I got into rescue entirely by accident. About 10 years ago I adopted one dog, then another, much older dog 6 months later from shelters and then another when the 2nd one passed. Became “addicted”on rescues for personal dogs… have always been about the dogs and when I saw a work colleague deeply involved in the “actual rescue” work, my natural curiosity made me started asking questions. One thing led to another and she managed to lead me to become much more involved. First through fostering, then through greater involvement coordinating, and now to both coordinating and being a board member. From my brother & I helping at my Aunt’s boarding kennel when I was a teenager, to now being fully involved in rescue…it’s a dog’s life and I am glad to be part of it!
Julia is an activist and advocate for animal welfare and the environment. She has volunteered with the West LA, Agoura and Camarillo Animal Shelters and is a member of the Malibu Arson Watch and Animal Evacuation team.
She joined the Jack Russell Rescue team after years of rescuing a wide variety of animals and now focuses on supporting the rescue and placement of Jack Russell Terriers and specializes in caring for senior Jack Russell Terriers in need.
I have been active in animal rescue since I was an adolescent in Pennsylvania, volunteering weekly at the local humane society. My first Jack Russell was adopted from Russell Rescue in 2005, Gretel, who was 6 and deaf. From that point on, I have fostered and rescued special needs or elderly dogs on a regular basis. I also help with going to the local animal control facilities to rescue and / or transport dogs to foster families or veterinarians. My husband and I have three special needs and elderly Jacks that are part of our family. We enjoy being able to foster and find forever homes for other older and special little white dogs.
